For those of us who want to stay closer to home this summer, we have a great opportunity to see the beautiful mountains and coastlines of our American Northeast. Our country has so much to offer right in our backyard and many are just a short bus ride from New York.
On July 3rd, we’ll head out of the tri-state area by Coach bus and head north to the Green Mountain state. We’ll stay near Lake Champlain which is the perfect home base where one can enjoy the great outdoors and landscapes of Vermont. We’ll take short hikes, enjoy the mountains, and enjoy an afternoon snack at the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory.
From Vermont we’ll head directly through New Hampshire (with a few stops along the way) to Bangor, Maine. Other than indulging on “Lobstah” Rolls, we’ll hike through Acadia National Park, visit the lighthouses all the way to the northernmost point in the eastern United States, and enjoy a day in picturesque Bar Harbor. On our way south, we’ll also visit another one of Maine’s favorites– Kennebunkport. With cool temperatures, inviting seaside villages, and great seafood, Maine is one of our favorite summer destinations.
The last several days of our northeast adventure will be a whirlwind. We’ll spend a few nights in Boston for a guided tour of Faneuil Hall, Fenway Park, the Freedom Trail, and other historical sights. We’ll continue on down the coast to visit The Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island, and other palatial estates. Then it is off to Mystic, Connecticut, for our final stop with a quaint seaside, aquarium, and outdoor restaurants.
Our Northeast tour will go from mountains to lakes, from seaside village to old town Boston. It will be diverse yet simple. For some, this trip will be the perfect getaway close to home and free from many of the worries of our everyday lives. Our tour will end at the JFK airport as we prepare for our trip to Europe!
