Join Frontier Travel Camp on another exciting tour of the great American West. Frontier will fly from New York’s JFK Airport to Denver, Colorado on July 1st, 2018. We’ll tour the mile-high city hitting all of the major highights. From Pike’s Peak to Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder to Colorado Springs, we’ll gain a great respect for this part of Colorado.
Heading north through Eastern Colorado into Wyoming is a truly magnificent drive with the Rocky Mountains out of the left side of the bus and the great American plains to right. We’ll stop at many scenic viewpoints until we reach unique Devils Tower (shown above). Some of you may remember this mountain as the backdrop in the Close Encounters of the Third Kind movie. We’ll learn about some of the legends that the native americans have passed-down through generations about this mysterious rock formation.
From here we’ll travel into the uniquely diverse southwest corner of South Dakota. This area is full of mysterious landscapes like the Black Hills and the Badlands National Park. The Badlands host dramatic scenes which consist of a myriad of layered rock formations, steep canyons and towering spires. Bison, bighorn sheep and prairie dogs inhabit its sprawling grasslands. Millions of years ago, dinosaurs roamed this area and still remain as fossils embedded in these hills.
While in this region we’ll also get to visit the iconic Mt. Rushmore. This National Memorial is a massive sculpture carved into the Black Hills. It glorifies U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. And not far from here is the Crazy Horse Memorial. This stone memorial has been under construction since 1948 and will not be completed for decades. Few travel to this historic region of our country. We hope that you’ll join us for this unique opportunity.
